Believe It!

Do you believe me when I tell you that you can have anything?

If you believe, it will give you strength, motivation, resolve and a faith so strong that your mind can produce anything you desire.

Your Mind and Beliefs

You see, as we grow up we are eventually shaped with beliefs and by information given to us either by our parents/teachers or family members, usually from what they were taught from their parents and teachers, also you grow up believing from your own experiences in life.

So a lot of our happiness, financial successes (or failures) are based on what we have believed to be true and the ways things are to be done, this is where pre-programming has come in from our past teachers.

But if your mentors that have taught you are or have been successful in their own lives chances are you more than likely are to be successful in life too because your belief system has been pre-programmed to breed success and happiness. When you see or learn something new that attracts you, you want to believe in it and that decision to believe in it is a conscious, choice right? That belief gives you the option of making a mental voluntary conscious choice.

An excellent book I have read by T. Harv Eker Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth and in it he writes:

‘Consciousness is observing your thoughts and actions so that you can live from true choice in the present moment rather than being run by programming from the past’

This is so true! And think about this.

What he means here is that when you are aware of your thoughts and actions day to day you can see how you have been pre-programmed when you were younger and therefore what you believed to be true.

So knowing this you have the power to take action to re-programme beliefs that are non supportive of your health, success and happiness. This is very powerful and it is critical for you see the way you respond to events in your daily life such as habits, anger, actions and even inactions because this could be causing businesses to fail, breakdown of relationships or financial struggle, something we all would like to avoid. To be successful and prosperous, happy in life you must use the tools you already have and you will have to change the way you use them if they are not giving you the results you want.

Believing In You

Believing in yourself first is a critical step to knowing you can achieve anything you put your mind to and now matter how tall the ask, no matter your circumstances it is achievable when you believe in yourself.

I want you to write two things down for me:

First, write down of all the things you want to achieve out of life, for example you may want to start up your own jewellery business or help underprivileged children or train to be a vet, maybe be the best drummer in world or travel to Egypt and see the pyramids, just write the list out.

Second, write another list of the reasons what may be stopping you from achieving those goals.

Now take a look at the second list, did you write…. I can’t OR I don’t know how OR I am scared that OR I fear if OR I don’t have enough….etc. These are the pre-programming of your past beliefs and experiences. The good news is they can be changed by conscious thoughts AND taking action!

People who have accomplished great things, they had beliefs and they believed. It started with idea, visualizing in that idea and believing in its reality, eventually their reality! And for it to become their reality they took action.

It may not have happened that instant or even after a few weeks but when you really believe in that idea you take action. You get the ball rolling! Things start to happen, and you find now that you are in a completely different level of thinking. You attract people around you with the same type of thinking, you talk to these people and opportunities arise. These people all have something in common, they believe! They believe in themselves and their resolve to get what they want to be successful and happy.

Sugar Anyone?

You may have heard of the Placebo effect. This would have to be belief at its highest and also a demonstration of what the power of the mind can achieve when it believes something. There are many examples of the placebo effect, many tests are carried out mainly in the medical field with new drugs being developed to determine their effectiveness.

Here’s how it works, a placebo usually involves taking a sugar pill orally or as a fluid injected into the person and it is usually accepted that for a placebo to be effective the client must not be aware of the that the tablet or fluid is in fact a sugar substance, thus affecting the results.

Here’s some examples of a placebo effect:

1. In 1938, Diehl, Baker and Cowan reported the results of a study that they conducted over a two year period in the efficacy of injected vaccines in prevention of colds. Whilst their experimental group showed a significant reduction in the number of colds per person per year, the placebo control group reported the same magnitude of reduction as the vaccinated group.

This finding was significant because they also found their observed level of reduction in the number of colds per person per year matched that of other ‘uncontrolled studies’; which, given the demonstration level of placebo responses, meant that “there is no evidence in this study… that vaccines reduce the complications of colds… in a cold susceptible group”.

2. In 1949, Wolf conducted a series of investigations in the into the “measurable “drug effects” that are not attributable to the chemical properties of the agents administered”. Wolf contrasting what he called drug effects with what he called placebo effects.

He noted that to which the “[observed] “placebo” actions depended for their force on the conviction of the patient that this or that effect would result”. He drew attention to the impressive frequency and magnitude of these placebo actions and placebo effects and how they could, mimic, mask, potentiate or prevent beneficial responses to the active drugs. He also stressed that all of these placebo actions and placebo effects, which [modified] the pharmacologic action of drugs or [endowed] inert agents with potency”were associated with real and substantial physiological changes; and, therefore they were not imaginary.

Wolfs study also revealed that the action of a drug could be nullified or even reversed in the presence of emotional states such as anger, hostility or resentment.

See Nocebo effect below.

What is being written above here by the two examples is that when you are told that this drug will have ease or cure your illness, disease and when told by a medical professional or an authoritive figure you believe them because… well because you came to them for advice or help and they are the professionals right? And they know what to prescribe for you to help you with your ailment. So when you believe that the medicine (in fact the sugar pill) given to you will help or cure you, that is you instilling into your mind a faith/belief that will become real, your reality. You are making a conscious choice to believe from the information given to you that you will be made better. What does that tell you?

It tells you that your mind is as powerful as any chemical laden drug you wish to take and you have the ability to heal yourself. Whohoooo! No more doctors bills!

I’m not kidding here if you really believe you will be well again you will be. If you have seen The Secret (Original Edition) you may remember two wonderful examples of the power to heal purely by believing they could and they did.

Nocebo?

This got my interest! It is a opposite effect of Placebo, a person who believes the treatment taken will not work and actually may worsen the symptoms by just having a negative attitude or believing that the substance will not in fact help them.Nocebo - (Latin nocebo = “I will harm”)

Oh boy, they need to watch ‘the secret’! But interesting huh!

I do realize that not every medical trial where the placebo effect has been administered will work, but hey! If only a fraction of the placebo effect worked that’s got to be good be a good thing. It shows you mind has the capability to heal and in my eyes (or mind for that matter) that’s got to be the ultimate in belief.
