Why go raw? Because your body depends on good digestion and without digestive enzymes the body has to produce it's own, which drains the body, causing aging and stress. Any metabolic enzymes in your body are drastically reduced when it has to call on your body to do this work. Metabolic enzymes allow our vital organs to function effortlessly for cleansing, healing and regenerating.

Cooked food doesn't allow the body to perform the way it was meant to. Humans (since the introduction of the fire) are the only ones to cook their food. Everything else on this planet eats raw. Animals, mammals thrive on raw food, be it plant or meat (unless they have been domesticated)and will always be in good health.

Just over two years ago I discovered raw living food and it hasn't been easy all of the time and yes, my ego has won out sometimes.

All those years of processed junk, it's still taking a little while to re-programme my system (and mind) out of that need for a ''fix' and by that I mean the fat/salt fix.

But I am nearly there, 80% raw living food and climbing!

We see it in our magazines, newspapers, medical and sports experts are all telling us to eat 5+ of fruit and vegetables a day and do physical activity of at least 30 mins everyday. But we just seem to keep getting bigger, which in turn is creating more disease, diabetes, heart attacks, arthritis, etc, not to mention the huge drain on our health system.

Really, next time you go to the supermarket take a look at the size of the store and see the proportion of organic produce compared to the rows and rows of chemical laden, preservative enriched, color enhanced foods in cans and packets filling our shelves, it is just over whelming (and very scary).

Here’s a little insight of what cooked food is doing to your body…….ready?

When you cook food above 118 f (45c) you have just killed off the majority of vitamins (in particular vitamin C). Amino Acids (our building blocks of protein) are dramatically altered, especially in meat.

High temperatures such as using barbeques or grilling trigger carcinogens like benzopyrene which is cancer causing. (Actually red clover is very good for this carcinogen, just throw some on your salad and it’s right out side your door!)

Ever had a burn from cooking or some other high burning temperature and the burned skin is different? Well, that’s what you do to cooked food, it is different, it is dead! all living enzymes are totally wiped out due to the high heat.

This is why about 1/2 hour after your meal you start to feel tired and feel the need to have a rest. That dead cooked food must now call on your body to do work some serious overtime.

With that overload of work the body now must perform causes aging and stress. Chemicals, preservatives, added color in your dead meal are brewing up toxins, free radicals circulate and camp out in your cells, lowering your immunity to infection, colds, disease and you know what that means, a trip of to the doctor for a recipe of drugs…aaarggh a recipe of chemical laden disaster.


You know where the medical world used to get there cures from?

PLANTS!

Sadly now most cures are now all mostly synthetic. More profits for the drug companies and their counterparts at our health's expense!

Like the blood of humans which carry essential nutrients and oxygen to our cells for growth, repair and vitality, the plants we eat also have blood called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll receives it nutrients from the soil we plant them in and the sun. So you can see how extremely important it is to have healthy chemical free, nutrient rich soil and also how extremely important it is to have the sun. The sun the plant receives has the ability to retain and give out light which determines the plants health.

When we eat healthy plants we ourselves become healthy and radiant.

Excessive heat alters and denatures every bit of protein, vitamin, etc you have put in your mouth you have a recipe for toxic build up, depleted oxygen which we need to carry our essential vitamins & minerals to the cells, acids are deposited in our joints, you colon now has become you one stop cancer shop! The colon is where the majority of disease begin like cancers, tumours. Processed food strips away our anti cancer agents.

With the obesity you see around you, much of that excess weight is decomposed fecal matter that has been trapped in the colon and intestine for years! No wonder people get sick, our pipes are gunked up with the poison we have fed it and it has no where to go except to leach into our body.

The changes in Protein

Raw organic plant food like raw nuts and seeds are a great source protein and because you do not need to cook them so you haven’t altered any of their natural chemical structures and when eaten they can be fully digested and assimilated using all of it’s protein 100%.

With cooked protein however, the cooking alters the amino acid chain and becomes toxic to the body, hard to digest and what it can not assimilate it must disregard and guess where that toxity goes? The colon cancer shop!

Soya beans however, are a great source of protein but contain a natural toxin which is destroyed by heat, almost! So they maybe best to avoid them, also lima beans.

Vitamins and Minerals

Heating food at high temperatures causes vitamins to lose most of their nutritional content, especially water soluble vitamin up to 91%. Vitamin C being the most susceptible of being damaged, but also very essential in assisting the absorption of Vitamin B12.

Certain heated minerals become less able to be assimilated into the body. Heat changes the molecular structure of vitamins and minerals causing them to eventually become inorganic and eventually the body sees this inorganic matter like a toxin and sends it where?

You guessed it, the cancer shop!

Changes in fats, oils and carbohydrates

As I mentioned earlier fats (lipids) are altered in high temperatures such as grilling, barbeques. Deep fried foods are the worst! (You knew that anyway, right?) The next time you visit KFC, McDonalds, your favourite fast food shop spare a thought for what your body is going to endure after that meal!

As good as that chicken leg, deep fried chips may taste at the time (and know those companies are very good at the marketing game, just the right mix of fat and salt has you right back for more!) That toxic shop is again loaded up with more carcinogenic substances such as benzopyrene, hydrocarbons.

Don’t summon your body to the labour camp of digesting that dead toxic food!

Carcinogens are cancer causing!

Oils such as canola, can become rancid when are heated at high temperatures, frying turns the oil in hydrocarbons. Cholesterol levels are raised, LDL (bad fats) contribute to hardening of the arteries and in turn you could be a candidate for heart disease or if you really try hard enough a heart attack could be on the cards.

I know I’m sounding a bit cynical here but, when I read in depth (and I have just touched the tip of the iceberg) what happens to our bodies with cooked food is very very scary and very real!

It is amazing how our bodies will adapt to what we subject it to. Carry on eating a life of cooked food and our body will accept that, but in doing this we are constantly lowering our immune system, increasing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, increasing our aging process,the list goes on.
